Regularly Scheduled Massage is Good for Your Physical & Mental Wellbeing

The Mayo Clinic reports that some studies have found massage to be helpful for digestive disorders, fibromyalgia, headaches, insomnia related to stress factors, low back pain, myofascial pain syndrome, nerve pain, soft tissue strains and injuries, temporomandibular joint pain, upper back and neck pain, hand and foot pain, and more. 


Research shows that regular massage can also assist in alleviating the effects of anxiety and even depression. According to a study by the Touch Research Institute at the University of Miami School of Medicine, one benefit of receiving massage is in the reduction of cortisol, a well-known stress hormone by more than 53%.  


Massage can also help in producing feelings of caring, comfort and connectedness because of the way the “feel good” chemicals (endorphins, oxytocin, dopamine, serotonin) are released during sessions.

Many clients ask me how often I think they should come in for massage, and this got me thinking. Common recommendations state that clients would greatly benefit from at least one massage per month, and regular massage as often as twice per week in severe pain situations can help alleviate pain symptoms and lessen recovery time. Regular massage appointments can help clients stay on top of stress and pain management.  


As a way to help clients be able to come in more frequently, I would like to offer a set of massage therapy memberships which will both lower the cost per massage and create a regular rhythm of massage therapy for clients’ wellbeing.  


Core Self-Care Packages 

 

Core Self-Care Packages come in twelve-month increments and must be used within 18 months of their initial purchase. These packages are charged in lump sum and are not refundable after the first massage is booked, nor are they transferable to other clients. These sessions can be booked anytime (not just once per month). Packages are for 90-minute massages and 60-minute massages only. These packages are rated at the best price per massage I can offer.  You can find more information here


Month-to-Month Membership Option 

 

I have also added a month-to-month option which requires a six-month commitment. Month-to-month memberships come in one, two or four massage sessions per month increments. The price list is here. Memberships are not refundable and are not transferable to other clients. 


The benefits of massage are evident. That said, massage isn’t a replacement for regular medical attention.  


Be sure to discuss with your doctors that you are receiving regular massage as part of Your wellness plan. I have always considered massage and bodywork a collaborative work, which means, we are collaborating with your bodily awareness as well as all of the work you are doing outside of the treatment room at TLC BODYWORK Denver.
